Anti-Racism Community Engagement
In response to the uptick of anti-Asian hate and racism since COVID, and the advocacy by people of Indigenous/Black heritage and other racialized communities, the provincial government will introduce legislation next year on race-based data collection. PCHC is invited along with many community organizations to help collect community input that will inform how the Government gathers and uses race-based data in the future.
PCHC and its partners in BC will be hosting a series of focus group meetings to engage citizens of diverse backgrounds during the month of December 2021 and into the first week of January 2022. PCHC members will be invited to a couple of the meetings, and anyone else wanting to participate could contact our part-time Coordinator Sophie Munk (pchcmom.events[@]gmail.com) about availability of vacancies and time. To find out more about the Anti-Racism Data Legislation Engagement, please visit this government website. All are encouraged to take the government survey, and share their experience and opinions to fight racism at a systemic level.
