On June 11th, Canadian writer and Order of Canada winner Wayson Choy was awarded the George Woodcock Lifetime Achievement Award at the Vancouver Public Library. In his speech, he reflects the voice of immigrant children, caught between the new world they belong to and the old world their parents and elders take refuge in. Now, Mr. Choy no longer feels “neither here nor there” — he no longer feels that he is a hyphenated Canadian as he accepts this prestigious award. Congratulations on your lifetime of work!
